DHI is hosting its 15th annual Reach Out conference – an event for those affected by the drug or alcohol use of a loved one.
The FREE event will be held at Somerdale Pavilion, Tiberius Road, Keynsham, on Thursday 9th June from 1:30-4:30pm.
It is estimated that for every person struggling with drug and alcohol misuse, there are at least five other people who are affected – husbands, wives and partners, mothers, fathers, siblings, children, grandchildren and friends.
DHI holds Reach Out during Carers Week. Carers Week (6-12 June 2022) runs every year and aims to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
Rosie Phillips, DHI Chief Executive, said: “Reach Out is all about bringing people together. There is still significant stigma attached to the families and carers of those who misuse drugs or alcohol, and many suffer anxiety, depression and poor health because of the stresses and strains in their lives. The theme of the event will be Tough Love to Empathy – and Everything Between! The programme for the day will feature:
