“My earliest years were spent in and out of care, with at least 7 different homes before I was even 3 years old. I moved in with my grandmother when I was 3, which gave me some stability, but I still suffer from PTSD caused by early childhood trauma and I get frequent flashbacks and nightmares. When I was 11, my mum died from a heroin overdose.
“When I was 14, I started to get in trouble with the law and I was regularly taking Class A drugs. It was only by engaging with DHI’s Motiv8 service that I began to turn my life around. The support that they have given me now means that I have not been in trouble with the police for months, I’m abstinent from all Class A drugs and I’m at college studying music.”
